Virtual Tour
Project Description
Michigan State University refreshed four Interior Design studios in the Human Ecology Building to elevate learning and creativity. The renovation introduced dual-purpose drawing tables, new lounge seating, and color palettes that encourage collaboration. Two studios were custom-designed in an MSU green-and-white theme; two feature a vibrant purple/yellow scheme. Funding of >$560K (A&I and TLE grants from MSU College of Agriculture & Natural Resources) supported upgrades including tech carts and TVs that replace projection screens, plus a senior capstone hybrid studio-lab where every station combines a computer and a drawing table.
Computer Comforts supplied tilting CAD drafting tables for all studios. Each table includes a custom metal bay for stowing the keyboard and mouse, plus under-mounted Mini-Tap power & data for clean, flexible connectivity.
Our tables feature a 0–27° tilt-top (15 positions) for close, detailed work and can also be positioned flat for general classroom or computer use. An integrated cable-tray modesty panel manages cords; the front pencil ledge secures sheets and tools. Stations are monitor-arm ready, and optional accessories—including a keyboard drawer and vertical CPU holder—create a computer-ready drafting table tailored to studio workflows.
The result is a cohesive, technology-ready studio environment where students can move seamlessly between hand drafting and digital production, with furniture that supports instruction, collaboration, and serviceable cable management—built for daily use in an academic setting.
