In 2022, Lawrence University renovated the Computer Science Lab into a hybrid active learning lab. The room still supports rows of front-facing tables using CCI’s Active Learning Tables for traditional lecture, but it now includes five pods using CCI’s Collaborative Series tables for group activities. The redesign was also an opportunity to move to a BYOD approach since the faculty noted that students preferred to use their own laptops. An HDMI cable is available at each pod for students to connect to the ultra-short throw projector that displays onto the whiteboard. Faculty have complete control over how the display signals are routed, and users will frequently annotate over the projected image with a standard dry erase marker.
